Online Book Club for Adults

"Books are the plane, the train, and the road. They are the destination and the journey.

They are home.”

Anna Quindlen, Pulitzer Prize winning Journalist

Join us at the new Quarryville Library Teahouse Book Club for a good book and a relaxing virtual cup of tea. Each month we digitally create a beautiful tea service and serve a special tea. We read a book and discuss that book through the Book Discussion tab at the top of this page.

There is no sign-up list. If you are interested in adding your own thoughts or questions to the discussion, please email You will then receive an email inviting you to create an account with LibGuides. Follow the link in the email to set up your account, which is what will enable to you participate in the discussion. From then on, you can contribute to the discussion at any time. Your email address will remain private, and will not be visible to other users.

How does the discussion work?

You can choose to reply to an existing discussion or create your own, then simply start typing your thoughts or questions. Like this: “Liz here, I love the way the author has described the Breton villages and the food. Has anyone traveled to that area of France? Further into chapter four, I found the descriptions of the sea very poetic. Kind of reminds me of Lawrence Durrell, when he speaks about the Aegean in The Alexandria Quartet. I understand the author grew up in France. Does she write her novels in English or French? Did she grow up in the area that is the setting for the story? Anyone know?"

How do I get my book?

Call the Quarryville Library at 717-786-1336 and request Finding Dorothy. Please tell the library staff member taking your request that this is a book club book and is on a special reserve shelf.

You will then be able to schedule a time to stop by the Quarryville Library and pick up your book. On your scheduled date, a staff member will be watching for your vehicle, and when they see you arrive, they will place your book, already checked out to you, on a table outside the main entrance. Please stay in your car until the staff member returns inside the library. This procedure is designed with your safety in mind.

When can I get my book & start reading & interacting online?

Your book, Finding Dorothy, may be reserved and picked up between July 22 and 29. The online discussion opens Wednesday, July 29, and continues until Wednesday, August 26.

What if I don't have a library card or my card has expired?

You can call the Quarryville Library at 717-786-1336 to renew an expired, existing card or to apply for a first-time card. You will then be able to request your book club book. Once our physical doors are reopened, you will be asked to complete the registration process in-person.
